We look forward to being at your service again this year, providing fun, safe, affordable, and quality camps that your kids will enjoy.
Week#1: “Zombie Apocalypse” Survival
The term “Zombie Apocalypse” is now associated with films and other media. We want to turn this negative term into something positive for our kids, by teaching them survival tactics! Both urban and wilderness survival will be covered: shelter, water, fire, first aid, food, electricity, self-defense, and more! Kids will leave camp armed with practical knowledge they can use anytime, anywhere. Zombie encounters not guaranteed.
Week#2: Rock Bands and Dance
This popular theme returns as our musicians, singers, dancers, songwriters, face painters, costume designers, hair stylists, choreographers, directors, hosts, painters, thespians, crafters, and creative ones unleash their potential onstage (or off, if they prefer to be on the production side of things). Everyone has a role and has fun, no matter what age, talent, and ability! Get ready to rock this summer!

Imagine a summer camp where a kid gets to be a kid in the great outdoors and where Mother Nature and her children get to spend quality time together in the forests, fields, lakes, creeks and trails. Imagine a camp where adventure, imagination, excitement and fun all happen because you make it happen!
Welcome to a day at the Big Wave Camp! At this camp kids are encouraged to explore and rediscover the amazing outdoors in a fun, friendly and safe environment. Whether its fishing, swimming, canoeing, building a fort, painting a picture, climbing a tree, biking through a trail, learning about plants and animals, getting soaked by a water balloon, shooting a bow and arrow, playing a board game under a tree or just hiking through the woods, there’s guaranteed to be something for everyone.
Our focus is to provide a “camper driven” style of camp where kids can engage in activities with others their age and form friendships that will leave a lasting impression. Our counselors are carefully handpicked, trained, mature and certified in CPR an come with an array of many talents whether its singing, dancing, playing an instrument, drawing or athletics, our staff is carefully selected to provide great leadership and good role models for the children.
In addition to that, we provide all the materials and supplies to make sure that the kids always have something to look forward to.
The Big Wave Camp is a camp for kids made by kids who have grown up but still recognize the kid inside of them. Its a place where the sky is the limit, the only borders are the ones where your imagination stops and the only limitations are how far you are willing to go. The difference with the Big Wave is that we encourage kids to be creative in their own unique way without restricting them to hold back. The world needs great leaders and the leaders of tomorrow are the ones who aren’t afraid to dream, to explore and to discover the world. So bring the kids out, let them play and let them discover for themselves where the difference truly lies. The sky is the limit, and the world is their playground.
Mark Twain, one of the greatest American Authors who embraced the spirit of children and wrote such books as Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, once wrote:
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. ”
I agree Mr Twain. I agree.
With the quick approach of summer the days begin to lengthen, the nights begin to shorten and the familiar smell of camp fires and barbeques begin to scatter through the warm evenings.
If you pay close attention you can pick up on all the clues; the smell of freshly mowed grass, the full rustling of a tree whose leaves have come back and the ever familiar tune of the ice cream truck playing louder and louder as it slowly approaches your street.
Ice cream is the one thing that lets us know that summer is back in full swing because who doesn’t love a full cone of chocolate and vanilla goodness on a hot summer day? In fact, what is a summer when you’re shirt hasn’t been stained at least once because you couldn’t eat your ice cream fast enough as it melted in the hot sun?
Who DOESN’T love ice cream races where you challenge your best friend to see who can eat it the fastest only to suffer from a mild bout of brain freeze right after? The fact is ice cream is made to make people smile which is why this year at the Big Wave Camp we are bringing back Ice Cream Truck Fridays!
Imagine Christmas coming in the summer where a magical ice cream truck shows up and gives you any ice cream you want during camp…and its free! At the Big Wave Camp our focus is to ensure that kids have the best summer vacation possible by allowing them enjoy all the simple pleasures that kids should be enjoying whether its hiking through the woods, swimming in the lake, canoeing down the creek, biking through the trails, learning how to shoot a bow and arrow, maybe even learn a bit of martial arts, flying a kite, painting a picture, getting soaked by water balloons and eating ice cream every Friday.
So if you’re a kid or still a kid at heart, come down and see what the buzz is all about. Come down to the Big Wave Camp this summer and enjoy the great outdoors the way nature intended you to: With lots of fun, sun and a little bit of ice cream goodness!
Fun Facts about Ice Cream:
On average, it takes a person about 50 licks to finish one scoop of ice cream! Count them for yourself or challenge a family member to a ice cream lick-off!
The LARGEST ice cream sundae ever was made in Edmonton in 1988 and weighed 24 tons!!! Imagine how much whipped cream and chocolate syrup they had to use to top it off!!!
Of all the days in the week, the most ice cream is bought on a Sunday! But Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday are just as good!!!
About 5% of all ice cream eaters share their ice cream with their pet! I know I do! My cat LOVES ice cream!
The invention of the ice cream cone came in 1904 at the World’s Fair in St Louis, Missouri when an ice cream vendor ran out of dishes for his customers and had to team up with a waffle maker who improvised the first ever ice cream cone!
This 2012, we’re making waves right in Ashbridges Bay Park at The Beach in Toronto. The Big Wave Beaches camp features activities unique to the beautiful beach area–beach volleyball, roller blading, beachcombing, and more!
The Beaches camp runs for four weeks from July 9 to August 3, and also incorporates off-site trips to a local archery range, art gallery, museum, cultural centres, and other places. The camp also includes healthy, delicious food (lunch and snacks) in the program.
Stay tuned for more! See you at The Beach!
For all our returning and new campers alike in the Mississauga, Etobicoke, and Brampton areas, Big Wave Camp is now closer to home at Heart Lake Conservation Park in Brampton, but still far enough to have that awesome summer camp getaway!
We also welcome again all our Burlington campers! We will have a dedicated bus going straight up Hwy 407 to take you directly to camp!
We hope to see you all this summer!
